Meet Ed Martin, LED Studio’s New Technical Manager

At LED Studio, we pride ourselves on assembling a team of dynamic individuals who not only bring industry expertise but also a fresh perspective to the world of LED displays.

We’re thrilled to introduce Ed Martin, our new Technical Manager, who joins the team with an impressive 35 years of AV experience and a clear passion for innovation and support.

A Rich History In The Tech Space

Ed’s journey into the AV industry began in 1988, following a role with an architectural firm in West London. Since then, his career has been a diverse blend of working with system integrators, distributors, and even delving into the creative realms of live events and music festivals. Whether it’s delivering cradle-to-grave AV projects, large-scale installations, or hands-on technical support and training, Ed’s wealth of knowledge covers it all.

“I’ve worked across nearly every AV vertical,” Ed shared, “from rental and live events, education to digital signage, corporate, museum exhibits, theme park and visitor centres, to  high-end residential systems with full automation. I’ve always enjoyed seeing a project through from conception to completion and beyond.”

A Shift to LED Displays Only

So, what drew Ed to LED Studio?

Over the past few years, Ed’s focus naturally aligned with LED technology through his previous support role. It became clear to him that narrowing his focus to one brand and mastering it was an exciting opportunity:

“I wanted to become intimately familiar with a brand at all levels, really understand the product, and build something solid and respected.  Throughout my career, the best brands I’ve worked with have all been driven by their technical and support arms.”

For Ed, LED Studio’s agility and momentum were key factors:

“What this team has achieved in such a short space of time is impressive. There’s a real opportunity to establish the brand further, not just for its products but for its industry-leading support but also due to its UK roots. That’s what excites me—ensuring customers have access to proper tools, training, and support to deliver outstanding big screen installations.”

Beyond the AV World

When Ed isn’t immersed in technical innovation, he enjoys stepping away from screens and pixels, and engages in things a little more low-tech, such as traditional board games of Chess and Scrabble, although he does have a bit of a passion for old-school tech, that was rekindled when backing a 2020 Kickstarter project to revive the Sinclair Spectrum—a nod to the 80s computer that inspired his early career choices.

Outside of tinkering with retro gear, Ed enjoys photography, particularly landscapes and wildlife shots. “I prefer to keep it natural,” he says. “I’ll crop or tweak contrast, but I like to let the original image speak for itself and stay away from heavy editing.”

And when he’s not behind a lens, Ed spends quality time with his 13-year-old daughter, sharing in whatever her latest interests may be as she emerges into the adult world.

Future Plans

Looking ahead, Ed has ambitious plans for his role as Technical Manager.

I’d love to see LED Studio not just recognised for its exceptional products, but also revered for its support as this will be the key differentiator when market consolidation happens. The AV industry is often let down by a lack of good documentation, quality training, and reliable post-installation care. My goal is to empower our customers and engineers, ensuring they have everything they need to deliver outstanding results.”

Ed’s experience and vision are already proving to be a perfect fit for LED Studio’s mission of driving innovation, quality, and trust in LED displays.

Welcome to the team, Ed—we’re excited to see where you take us!
